Could only install CS in safe mode (Win XP). Suspect it was an incompatibility with my Matrox Parhelia video driver because in regular mode the license agreement buttons displayed overwriting the text and were not active. Anyone else run into this?

Also, my Wacom tablet driver would not load immediately after CS installation. Has this been found by anyone? Haven’t troubleshot it yet but will try a reinstall first.

I read something about that problem but it was because use large fonts were turned on in Windows. Is this the case for you?

Bob:
Yes I am using the large Windows screen fonts and have found that they do interfere with the display of screens in some programs that haven’t been updated very recently. I mentioned this to the tech fellow but he didn’t comment. I think he was focused on getting this thing installed. Most programs automatically adjust their display font size, and Photoshop always had previously. But let me tell you what I’m thinking now.
I tried the install on my laptop. Figured that if it hung the system in the same way it did in my desktop that would point to a bad CD (which tech support never figured on). If it went past the license agreement I would just cancel out. Well, it did the same exact thing — hung at the license agreement and hung the system. I’m going to call for a replacement CD.

Judith,

I’m curious if your laptop might also be set up to use the Large Fonts in the Display Font Size settings? I use Large Fonts for both my desktop and laptop since each are using a screen area size of 1280×1024. If you do then same, then your laptop may well be hanging up on the License Agreement due to the inability to find and click on the Accept response that is out of the viewing area due to the Large Fonts setting.

Turn off the large fonts (i.e switch to small fonts) for the installation. Once everything is installed turn your large fonts back on and everything should work as you want it to.

Daryl: Great minds and all that…..It occurred to me that it may have been a bad CD because I could see the accept and decline buttons but they were not "live" and clicking on Accept merely hung the install program. I tried an install on my laptop and it hung there also. This just about confirms a bad cd as the 2 systems have totally different hw.
Right now I’m trying to get a replacement CD, which is turning into a surreal experience — wrong referrel tel. nos., support people saying they can’t help when I’ve been referred to them etc. Even my case # doesn’t help. No one seems to know how to get a replacement because I ordered it online. Adobe’s support is DISMAL. If all else fails I can reverse the charge on my credit card to get someone’s attention.

Almost a PS….. While writing this I was on hold with my 5th call to cus support at Adobe and after 2 long waits I was told they would have someone research the availability of replacement CDs and call me back in about 10 days. The reason they have to research it, this sweet little girl said, is because PHotoshop CS is a new product.

GIVE ME A BREAK!

Judith,

Are you running large fonts on both systems? If so, have you tried installing with the small fonts selected for Windows? What were the results?

Do you have a Case # from Adobe support? If so, can you please email it to me – click on my name for email info.
