Hi

I am just getting into Photoshop 7 for manipulating Photo’s. I am scanning images in from old Photographs at 360dpi and want to use new images from my digital camera to paste into them, what megapixel camera would I need to do this properly, my current one is 2 or 2.3 megapixel.

Any comments or advice welcome

Mark

If you want to get equivalent size images, you just need to do the calculation: width * height * 360 * 360 = number of pixels

So for a 6×4, this is about 3 mpx.

You could probably get away with inserting images from your current digicam, using the transform command to scale [upsample] them. It really depends upon exactly what you want to do.

Just try it …

If I scan my photo’s in at 300 dpi that would be a closer match to my Digital Camera output.

Yes. That would work.

No need to use 360 or 300 try 240 and you will see no difference when you print. Believe me.
