I have a Digital Camera Photo that when I open it in PS 7 it defaults to a 72 resolution of Pixels/inch.

I need for printing purposes have to bump it up to a 300 dpi Hi Resolution image.

What do I do?

And once I take the recommended steps, how will I know it is at 300 dpi?

Thanks for any help in advance…

Bob,
It helps to include the program version that you are using.

From the menu bar:
Image>Image size – make sure resample image is not checked and enter 300 in the resolution box. The image size numbers will change to reflect the size that the image will be at the resolution entered.

Or: Check resample Image and type Resolution 300 and with Constrain proportion Checked type the width or the hight you want.
Bicubic or Bicubic smoother or sharper. Whatever gives best results.

You will know going to Image-Image Size.

of course, resampling the image is actually modifying the actual pixel data where unchecking the the resample box before changing the resolution does not. use caution.
