I downloaded and installed Camera Raw 5.2 in Photoshop CS4, about an hour ago. Since then I have had varied, and it seems random success in opening raw files in Photoshop.
I only loaded a couple of G10 raw files onto my computer [desktop]. Sometimes they open, sometimes they do not, and I get an error messages that reads: “Could not complete your request because it is not the right kind of document.”
Sometimes I can go through Picasa and when I click on ‘open with’ and select Photoshop 4, it will open, other times not.
The same thing happens when I try to open the file from Photoshop. I have restarted the computer several times.
Any thoughts, ideas or help would be appreciated.

Many times the errors occur with ACR as the file is not put in correct directory, or there is more than one version in directory. Check download instructions to see if all is correct.

Thanks Curt I will chase that down. Right now it is working fine, perhaps that is because it is Sunday!

While one problem seems to be under control/solved, I have discovered a new one. In Bridge the raw images appear as a generic thumbnail, not an actual thumbnail of the image.

Just getting an icon rather than a thumbnail can also be a symptom of ACR being in wrong directory.

Also, you might go to tools/cache/purge cache for xxx folder. Let thumbnails rebuild and see if they show correctly.
