Print not matching lcd

I have my 5D set to AdobeRGB, I have my PSCS2 working space set to AdobeRGB. I make Layer Adjustments, then print without saving(is saving prior to printing a good idea?). Prints are coming out too dark. I have recently (last 2 weeks) calibrated using Spyder3Suite. Even ACR is set to AdobeRGB.

I have my Epson printer set to allow PSCS2 to do the Color Handling, uh-oh I see the problem, I had the Printer Profile within the Print settings registered at SRGB-IEC61966-2.1. I have just printed another hard proof amd am back to close match.

So after that, the only question I have now is Should I be saving prior to printing?

You don’t have to save or flatten before printing, though it’s a good idea to save the file so you don’t have to repeat the work you’ve done on it.

The common reason for prints coming out "too dark" is that the monitor is too bright. When your monitor is too bright, you typically adjust your image darker so it looks good on the monitor. Those adjustments are sent along to the printer, and the prints come out dark.

You don’t mention what you replaced the sRGB setting with, but the setting in the "Printer Profile" drop-down should be the profile for the paper/printer combination, not a color space like AdobeRGB.

Presuming you have created everything in layers, including the final sharpening, it saves time if you ever want to reprint or rework your masterpiece if you have it saved as a psd file.
While these files can be massive storage is cheap but your time is irreplaceable.
