Alway somthing new CR2 Raw format from Canon Rebel XTIS

I do have Photoshop CS and ACDC 9 Ulead Photoimpact 12, Corel Paintshop and other image software viewing Raw files taken with canon 10D and 20D with no proplem reading CRW format and processing the images. Now I did buy a Canon Rebel XTSI but non of the files in CR2 will open in Photoshop and the other programs. What is the difference between these raw files that can not be opened with Photoshop CS.

For reasons known only to camera manufacturers every new sensor comes with its own raw format, although the file extension (e.g. .nef for Nikon) may remain the same.
There is not a technical reason why this needs to be.
Although Adobe is very good about adding software to its raw converter to account for these changes in new camera models Adobe only supports the raw converter for its current version of Photoshop or Elements. Adobe has offered its Digital Negative format as a universal raw format but few camera manufacturers have used it.
If you are adept at CS you will find the upgrade to CS3 worthwhile. However hopefully in CS4 Adobe will get its act together and get rid of the converter altogether as a separate entity and unify all functions in the Photoshop desktop. The converter was originally an emergency add-on to deal with the rapid rise of dSLR raw image capture and morphed into a poorly documented, semi-crippled monstrosity that only allows unidirectional image processing.

We use a 10D but with CS3
if we get the new Rebel the files with work in RAW?

we were thinking to get it as a backup and it has more megapixels than the old 10D
& can use same lenses

FWIW I really like CS3 upgrade
and have learned to love and depend upon BRIDGE

Just found out the problem is the new meg pixel size the new one is 12 mega pixels waiting till adobe comes out with a new update.
