I have been trying to obtain a transparent background for an image I have. I have tried Adobe Photoshop, Paint, Corel Presentations, Picture It!, and others. I found a simple solution right under my nose. It was Microsoft Publisher. Two clicks. I believe the image has to be in GIF format though, which is no problem.

I have publisher and would like to try it. Could you be more specific on the procedure you used?

Also when you say GIF so you mean the original has to be GIF or you can use any format but then save it in GIF?

thanks
