Hi people,

I’d like to use a pattern effect to put a grid over a photo to look tecky. how can I use patterns in Photoshop like I do easily in Fireworks ? Thanks,
Why do you want to do it in Photoshop if you can do it easily in Fireworks?

While Photoshop may be the best all round image editor it doesn’t mean it’s the best at everything. If you’re working on something in PS, but can do something better in other software, just save and move it to the other software, save and move it back again.

I use whatever is the best software tool for each job I’m doing, and while what I suggested may seem awkward, you’ll probably do it quicker if you know how to do it in Fireworks. Except you won’t learn anything new. 🙂

well….you first have to have your pattern….but then it is really easy. Use "layer styles" (i usualy just double click on the layer–be sure it is not a background layer). Then choose pattern overlay….and then apply your pattern.

hope that helps
