After selecting an object with the Magic Lasso, I cut and pasted the object to a separate file. I then inserted the picture of the object into a Word file. The object shows with a light background in the area of the bounding box that originally framed the object. How can I get rid of this light backround so that only the object will show?.

You want to make the background transparent, not white.
