Um I calibrated my monitor with Adobe Gamma and I think I did a dum thing. When I saved my settings instead of giving it a different name replaced the sRGB color space profile with the monitor calibratio settings. Can someone tell me how to get a fresh copy of the sRGB colo space profile

Hi there.

Let me have a simpler Email address, and I will send you a copy of the profile.

If you are suspicious of attachments from strangers, ask someone you know to copy it from their operating system, or Email it to you. It is a very small file and will fit onto a floppy.

I should have said on Win XP, it is in the folder Windows > System 32 > Spool > Drivers > Color

These profiles are universal, so it does not matter which OS it comes from, any Wins or Macs.

I really am not being very bright this morning, at all.

I have only just noticed.

Why were you using sRGB as the starting profile for Adobe Gamma. That is a Working Space Profile

You should be using your Monitor Profile, the one which came with the Monitor, or the one you downloaded from the monitor makers site.

If you are using Windows, and do not have a specific Monitor Profile, some Windows versions will have installed a Generic Gamma 2.2 Monitor Profile. Use that one or use the Trinitron one as the starting point.

It is a very long time since any-one advised using a Monitor profile as a Working space. The Working Space needs to be independant of any system hardware, so that any different ( but calibrated) system can show the image colours the same as they appear on your system.

Your Program uses your Calibrated Monitor Profile to correct the colours your system will show, so that they will match the sRGB standard.

Hi there.

The sRGB profile has been sent from one of my other Email addresses. (this one is only for News).

If you should need a Generic Monitor Profile, just let me know.

If you need to know how to Colour Manage printing using PS and an Epson Printer, go to our Camera Club site at www.ayrphoto.co.uk and then to the "Notices and Info" page and you will see an article on the subject.
