Every time I try to update PE, it tries to download 2 files.It apparently deals with file 1 pretty quickly but in the middle of downloading the 2nd file, ‘AWEDBFiles4.awe’, it always crashes. Any explanations for this would be most welcome.

There are no updates to PSE, so you’re just seeing some procedure where the computer is checked. For something. I don’t have a clue what. Go to Edit>Preferences>Adobe Online and set the frequency to Never. That’s how the rest of us handle this annoyance.

No, you’re definitely not the only one with problems with the update feature, although the symptoms aren’t always the same. Most of us turned that thing off early on. PSE 1 didn’t work any better, either!
