I have Photoshop 5 and would like to upgrade to 7.

Will using a PS 7 Upgrade work on a full version of PS 5 or do you need to have PS 6 in order to upgrade to PS 7

yes it will, but will you be upset if you upgrade to 7 and 8 comes out in a couple of months? if so, i’d wait a bit.

I know math that they taught me in about 2nd grade. 18 months (average release time for the last couple of upgrades) from the release of v7 puts us around oct or november as the guesstimated release date for 8. That plus all the rumors that have been floating for months now adds up to gotta be soon! 🙂
