Photoshop fails at startup

Photoshop 7 fails at the end of the startup process, right after loading brushes. We’re running windows xp home edition on a DEll Inspiron 8200. All other Adobe products work. Any suggestions are appreciated. Note, removal and re-install had not fixed this problem.
