I have a "banner" with a lot of different gradients in it to show the curving of the banner. Its like a ribbon. Anyway, I need to print it as one spot color. I tried to desaturate it and then apply a Layer Style Color Overlay of PMS 185U. However, after I drop it into ID, and look at my separations, its got all kinds of CMYK in it.

How would I go about getting only 185U red in the document with no other CMYK junk? Thanks,

Chris

Wait.. I cant color a greyscale PSD in ID? Do I have to make it a TIFF?

yes you can as long as it does not contain transparency
