I’ve recently upgraded to a Mac Pro., with more than one disk. I’m trying to assign another disk for my scratch disk. Each time I do this, when I re-open PS, I get the "can’t access disk" message, and I have to go back and delete my PS prefs.

Please help.

Thanks,
Michael

Do a "get info" and check the ignore ownership box.

check the ignore ownership box

Where do I find that option in Get Info, if you please?

wait, my scratch volume (where I originally looked) doesn’t have the option at the very bottom —another document volume has that option

this is my G4 and I am the only user
all ownership/permission settings are the same

any ideas what’s going on – why the SD doesn’t show Ignore Ownership on This Volume at the very bottom???

How did you format the Drive? And is an internal or an external HD?

For speed and efficiency, Scratch SHOULD be on the first partition.

When you "Get Info.", and click on the flippy triangles for "Ownership & Permissions" and then for "Details", you should see that:
You can Read & Write;
Owner = Your Name
Access = Read & Write

If it doesn’t say that, UNlock the padlock and change it so that it does. Then Lock it again.

You should now see the "Ignore ownership … " checkbox at the very bottom of the palette.
