How can we check which program was used to create an .EPS or .AI graphic file.

We receive many electronic graphic files with the above extensions, that have not been created with Adobe PhotoShop but have been converted to .EPS and have not been created with Adobe Illustrator but converted to .AI.

If we can have a utility to inform us of how the received file was created, it will save us lots of time, any suggestions will be appreciated.

On a PC system, the creator information is not normally saved. (I think it still is on a Mac).

Try opening them with a text editor.

Or by viewing the Hex in IrfanView?

WordPad is OK. The original source is always
mentioned in plain ASCII code.

I think that we will use word pad to view each file’s souce unless a more automated system can be found.

Thanks
