If I have one RGB color i.e. (255, 229, 8) – is that the same color using sRGB or using Adobe RGB (1998)?

I understand the two gamuts contains different colors, however most of them are the same. But is one RGB-color like (255, 229, 8) the same color in both working spaces? If so, which colors are different?

These numbers in the absence of a gamut mean nothing. So, it all depends on which color gamut you are using.

The colors are not necessarily the same. The color denoted (255, 229, 80 in Adobe RGB is likely to be have different numbers in sRGB. Jim

No. A given set of RGB values does not represent a single colour. The colour it represents depends on the profile you are using.

To help understand this, why don’t you experiment? Create a box on the screen and fill it with ANY color. Then ASSIGN different colorspaces to the image. The RGB numbers will not change, but in many cases you’ll see a marked change in appearance. To keep some control, just use the AdobeRGB, sRGB, ProPhotoRGB, and ColorMatchRGB spaces for comparison.
