Just got a new Dell laptop. 1.6GHz Celeron, 512 MB RAM, 40 GB harddrive. Windows XP O/S. I’m trying to install PhotoShop 6.0, educational version. The process requests that I insert my PhotoShop 4.0 or later disk, says it is searching for the required software and then does nothing – perpetual hourglass. When I check the system manager, it does not indicate any problem.
I can install PhotoShop 4 and 5.5 (both educational versions) and both work just fine. When I try to install 6.0 with 5.5 and 4.0 installed, the process will proceed a bit farther. It will recognize the 4.0 disk, request that I insert the 6.0 disk to complete the installation and then it hangs – hourglass city again.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I’ve scanned the FAQs and this Forum. I did not see anything pertaining to this problem. If it is already there and I’ve missed it, my apologies.
