CS Batch Renaming problem

I’m using CS on a new 1.5G Al Powerbook running 10.3.4 and 1.5GB Ram. My problem is that when I choose batch rename for a folder of images, then close CS, when I open the folder again the files have been converted to Unix exe files which don’t seem to open in anything except Graphics Converter.
Any ideas?
