Yes, it is possible and it works well with any TWAIN compatible scanner, which these days, nearly 100% are. You just need a bit of simple to use, low-cost as as well as free commercial software.

I was so frustrated before, that after finding this I am very happy to plug this thing.

The client version is free, and lets you test out how it works; with the free client copy you are able to operate a scanner located at their company location.
