Anne, since none of the users that frequent this forum are mind readers and can’t tell which version you are using, how can we explain how to make a drop shadow??

Reading your manual would be a good start for you.

Anne, again we need to know what version of Photoshop you are using! If you are working with PS 6 or before: make a duplicate of the layer that contains the image, move it so it sits under the object layer, fill the duplicate layer with black, making sure preserve transparency is selected. Follow by apply gaussian blur 6 or 8, personal preference. You may want to lower the opacity of the layer to about 20-30%.
If you are working with PS7 or more, using adjustment layer options is one option. You can always access the help menu and select drop shadow.Ana
