hi there,
from a client we received some grayscale images (just black and white scannings I think), that when opened in Photoshop 7 inside the titlebar mention ‘imagename (gray#)’.
When I open these same images in Photoshop CS I see insteat ‘imagename (gray/8)’ (= gray slash eight).

Does anyone know what this ‘#’-sign means inside Photoshop 7 ? Is there something wrong on these images ?

Thanx in advance,
Herman Belgy

THe 8 means the file is 8 bits per pixel. A 16 means 16 bits per pixel. 8 bits is a universal standard, and just abotu every file you get, adn eery file you save, will be 8 bbp.
