Converting images for viewing on TV

I use Photoshop CS3.

I have approximately 500 jpeg images in color profile Adobe RGB (1998), at maximum out-of-camera resolution (3888×2592) and file sizes from 2.5 to
3.5Mb.
I now want to show these images on my old Sony TV (tube type, not latest high definition TV) using my Sony DVD player. The DVD player will only accept jpegs burnt to a CD (not a DVD).

I firstly need to convert the images to sRGB as this is preferred for viewing colors on TVs.
I also want to change the resolution of each image to that of the TV, which I believe is 640 x 480.
This should also reduce the file size which in turn will allow the images to appear more quickly on the TV.

The best way I see to do this is with Photoshop’s batch mode but would like to know if and how all the above conversions can be done at once and without effecting the original image files. I believe there is a function in PS for fitting the image to certain sizes as well.

Any feedback on undertaking this process, as efficiently as possible, would be greatly appreciated.

Get the free Microsoft program called "Photo story 3. You’ll need to buy ($15) an add-on to let you burn them for TV viewing but it really becomes a trivial task then to dump up to about 256 images at a time into the program and view them as a slide show. The program will also save your original files to the disc.

Use PS to convert the files to sRGB first.

Other solutions exist but none so elegant and easy to use as this one. Otherwise ($69) Pro Show gold will let you use more images in the one story.

If you you want to pay for a program to archive your files without converting them to sRGB, there is Archive creator a really nice program but it outputs a html page to view the image. More for computer use than TV viewing.

Hope this helps. Others will no doubt have other solutions but which one you use will depend on you and what you are comfortable with.

There should be enough options for you through File->Scripts->Image Processor.

ONE STEP: : File – Scripts – Image Processor

It includes a step that will fit the image properly.
Just use the short dimension (480, 480) and everthing is good.
