My Photoshop seems to bve playing funny games on me- now, everytime i click on the layer to draw an outline to cut the image out, it automatically adds a layer mask. How can i turn this off and why is it doing this?
Thanks for your help in advance.

What tool are you using to "draw"?

The ‘Pen Tool’. It used to work without any problems. I tried resetting the preferences but still no joy.

The Pen Tool has 3 options top left of the Options bar:

"Shape", "Path" and "Fill".

Make sure you have "Path" selected.
