Computer blackscreen crashes with photoshop when I use Vector masks…

Anyone else having this problem? The computer doesnt freeze or anything, the entire thing just shuts down… I am using the trial software to see if it is worthwhile to upgrade photoshop from v 5.5, and it does this… I have a pentium 4 3.2 ghz 1 gig of ram and 30 gigs free on a 100 gig drive.

Any help is most appreciated.
