Hi

I need a PS action which creates a single image consisting of an P times Q grid of small parts of a large number of input images. The number of input images may vary. The number of input images maybe upto 1000.

The process of recording such an action would be practically impossible; and this has to be done for each different sized set of input images.

Does PS support a textual format for its actions so that I can generate the action needed for each certain input set?

Thanks for listening,

Kees

Whilst you are awaiting a reply I wonder if you could consider a problem I have to deal with.

The popes offer to biggoted Anglicans.
Can anyone tell me why The Pope would go out
of His way to attract such a sorry bunch of fascist
bastards? Who in their right minds would want more
Misogynists and Homophobes? One would have
thought that He would already have more than
enough of His own sexually damaged priests.

This is probably a job for scripting:

Another approach would be to use Photoshop’s automation API, and the language of your choice, C#, VB, C++, etc.

Both of the above methods could be adapted to do both the splitting and the re-assembly.

A third way that might work for just the assembly portion would be to use Bridge. Create a folder (or a collection within Bridge) with your images, then use Bridge’s Output Module to assemble the images into a pdf or web page.

Or you can install the old contact sheet feature:
http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4048

Do a search on Photomosaic and you may find references to third party utilities, many of them freeware, that might help.
