Not sure if this is the BEST way, Travis, but it’s awfully easy: Create a blank layer on top of your background layer. Choose the Gradient tool (G), and select the black-to-white gradient. Create a gradient on this new layer, then change the Blending Mode to SCREEN. That’s it! You’ll want to vary your starting point and ending point when you create the gradient, for various effects. For example, if you’re creating this effect on a picture of a standing person, where you want the face and torso to be FULLY visible, but you want the legs and feet to fade to white, you’d want to START your black-to-white gradient in the MIDDLE of the picture, rather than at the top. Make sense?
Good luck!

image to gradually fade into the background, I have seen many people do this with images, but I have no clue on how to. Please help.
