Edit the date & time information stored with the image files

Dear all,

I have taken a number of digital photos with the date and time incorrectly set.

Could you know how to edit the date and time information stored (but not displayed on the hardcopies of photographs) with the image files (i.e. the image properties shown as the "Date Picture Taken" in the details view of "My Computer" in Windows XP)?
