Hi there,

my Photoshop CS was running fine for months, then without obvious reason, it didn`t start any more. After clicking the photoshop icon the program window opens and crashes immediately after seconds (even before the startup windows with the credits appears).

I re-installed the program 2 times, it didn`t help, but I found out something interesting: It starts without crashing when at the same time the adobe DVD is lying in the disk drive, but only, if the autostart routine from the DVD is already running. That’s strange, because why should there be any relation between the software, properly installed on the harddrive, and the autostart routine of the installation DVD? Any ideas?

Thanks you and all the best,

Till

Thanks, but resetting preferences didn’t help.

Besides the strange relation to the DVD autostart I discovered another strange behaviour: Photoshop starts normally when I start it through the windows start menu. The crash only happens when I start it through the quick start icon on my task bar. Of course I deleted and recreated my quickstart icon for PS then, but it also didn`t help. So this means I can use my photoshop through the windows start button / programs list but not through the windows quick start bar, which is not such a big problem anymore, but still strange and it woud be still interesting to hear a solution for that.

Thanks,

Till

that’s so odd, given that you’ve deleted and recreated the quick start bar icon, that i’d be tempted to say scan for viruses or spyware.

btw, xp or vista? (sorry if you said before…)
