My Canon S30 seems to be getting slower when taking flash pics. Would the age of my battery influence this at all? The battery seems to charge OK.

What do you mean by getting slower? Taking the picture slower or recycling between flashes slower? Slower recharging of the flash is a pretty good sign of a weak battery. If you’ve had the camera/battery for awhile (and you’re not planning on upgrading the camera) you may well want to replace the battery. They’re only good for so many recharge/discharge cycles.

I think it is the recharging between flashes, since it seems to be faster on outdoor shots.

Then a weak battery may be reasonably supposed to be at issue.
