I recently made an error of saving several images as PDF files instead of PSD. Does anyone know if there is a substantial loss of quality in saving photo images as PDF files?

PDF files save images internally either as compressed JPEG files (lossy) or Zip format (lossless), but I’m not sure which technique Photoshop Elements does when it saves as PDF.
