Printing only to an Epson 10600, what are the advantages of using one gamma versus the other?

Also, in the Color Settings dialogue, Advanced Controls, should "Blend RGB Colors Using Gamma" be checked and left at 1.00, set at a different number, or left unchecked—I don’t understand the rollover explanation.
