I hope I em describing this correctly. I have loaded Nikon Capture 4.4 on my new laptop along with CS2. My laptop is tethered to a Nikon D2X. I shoot images using Capture Control. They are correctly downloaded and I see a 1×2 sized image. I then go to Bridge, where I see another thumbnail-sized version of the image.

All of this works (with an exception to be mentioned) as it did on my old laptop using the identical procedure, EXCEPT that, when I click on the image in Bridge just to look at it (no correction at this point), a window with the thumbnail appears entitled "RAW Adjustments [image number],nef." There are two controls, one for exposure comp and one for white balance, along with a simple toggle to enlarge the image within the thumbnail and another to rotate it.

When I say "OK," the image is then opened (after quite a delay) as a nef file in Bridge.

This procedure is very inefficient. Someone from Nikon suggested that there is a setting in Adobe that can be turned off so as to eliminate this step, but I can’t find it and a call to Adobe Tech Service provided no help.

Has anyone experienced this and, if so, how do I get rid of it.

The other difference between my present system and the former one (i.e. with my old laptop) is that vertical images appeared in Bridge as horizontal ones. That problem may have solved itself, but, just in case, how does one eliminate the problem?
