I am trying to soft proof photos in CS2 (CS3 is on the way!) and I’m confused about which proof profile to use. In the Proof Setup – Custom the ‘Device to Simulate’ lists my calibrated monitor setting as well as several profiles provided with my Canon Printer. If I am printing to a specific paper (i.e. matte) on my inkjet should I select the ‘M2’ profile provided by Canon ? or my most recent calibrated monitor profile? Sorry – I don’t quite get this.

That’s precisely what it’s for – to preview how the image will look when printed.

CS3’s print module (loved by some, hated by others) has a built-in soft proofing preview.
