I just added 2GB of RAM giving me a total of 3GB. I have XPpro and CS3. The system sees the 3GB. When I look at memory in preferences it gives the following.
Available RAM – 1718MB
Ideal range – 945-1237MB
Let PS use 1220MB 71%

CS3 seems to be loading much faster and I haven’t used it yet to check the performance. My question is why CS3 does not appear to see the entire 3GB? The whole purpose of adding the 2GB was to devote it to CS3. Is this normal or is there something I need to set somewhere else?

Thanks in advance,
Dennis

you need to add the /3gb switch to the boot.ini file.

Dave – thanks for the help. I added the /3gb to the boot.ini and now I get this : Available RAM – 2655mb
Ideal range – 1460-1911mb
Let PS use 1911mb 71%

Hopefully, that will leave enough for everything else to run.

Thanks again for your help.
