I believe some computer magazines have run those tests. For the test to be reasonable both OSes would have to be pared down so that there were no other background programs or processes running. And since the tests were run by computer magazines any resemblance to reality may only be coincidental. Regardless of that issue you should realize that Mactels are built on low to middle of the road Intel hardware. There are far more sophisticated platforms out there for the Intel Dual core processor that are priced significantly lower than Apple branded hardware. In fact Wintel hardware with a configuration identical to the Apple brand sells for far less than anything with the Apple label. And with a better warranty. For Apple to compete with Microsoft all it would take would be a tweak to the OS to recognize alternate motherboard configurations. Of course Apple is about twenty years late to that party.
