Just hooked up external writer….try to save scanned item on new drive, get message…not allowed to until I talk to my administator..what’s up with that?

Sounds like you are on a Windows 2000 or XP box and don’t have admin rights . Possible you’ve got a driver install problem on the external writer, or you need to format the media on the external writer. Not an Elements problem, exactly. Can you get the external writer to work using the software that came with it ( Roxio, or Nero probably ) with files that are on your hard drive ?
