James:
Did you find a fix? I just purchased a new Mac Pro and am unable to install Photoshop CS2 on it — I get the exact same error as you. I tried:
1) running from CS2 install DVD… no luck.
2) dragging Adobe Photoshop CS2 folder from DVD to desktop, then installing… no luck
3) making a disc image of CS2 install DVD… no luck
QuickTime is up-to-date. Everything is up-to-date. I went through the Installer FAQ and tried all its various suggestions. Nothing. I simply cannot install Photoshop CS2 on my new Mac Pro.
If I try to run the partial install of CS2, I get the dialog box telling me that "One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing."
So, did you have any success? And, if so, how?
