Photshop CS 2 grey slider

Gray slider in CS2 (Tiger, Intel Mac, 1Gb ram), was selected in a RGB file and then was frozen and would not deselect to enable the RGB slider. All fill options were gray scale but options palette still showed colour as did the colour palette spectrum.

What are you calling the grey slider? the gamma slider in Levels?

Thanks for ansering, no its the colourpalette slider listed as ‘gray scale slider in the popout side menu. This will not uncheck/deselect to return to a CMYK slider.
