Placed a profile downloaded from an outside source into library/color sync/profiles. Restarted Photoshop. When I go to view/proof setup/custom/device to simulate– the profile is not listed. Any suggestions? Using CS2 and iMac G5 with Os 10.3.9.

Did you reboot the Mac after adding the profile?

There is the possibility that there is something wrong with the Profile.

You could use Applications/Utilities/ColorSync Utility.app to check for damaged profiles.

You might also see if it works better if you add a copy of the profile to: <HD volume>Library/Application Support/Adobe/Color/Profiles/

Also, profiles have an internal name (the name that appears in Photoshop) and an external name (the file name)

Go through your profile list in PS carefully before deciding the profile is missing
