Sometimes I try to use the selection tool and get the message: No Pixels are more than 50% selecte. The selection edges will not be visible.

I did a copy, and a New from clipboard. This presents a faded image of the complete image instead of the area selcted.

What’s going on here?

Gene,

It sounds like you may need to reduce the Feather setting on the selection tool you’re using.

The feather setting "straddles" the selection marquee, so when you close your selection, if it is relatively small, the interior may be too feathered.

When you did the Copy / New from clipboard, the "faded" image was a result of the feathering.

HTH,

Byron
