I am working in ps 5.0.2 on a mac

I have been sent some images created on a digital camera, saved as high-res jpegs and when I open these through ps I get a message saying the profile of the image does not match the current colour profile and asking if I want to convert the images

the images come to me as rgb images, but as they will be used in a printed document they will need to be converted to cmyk

should I convert the images to cmyk when prompted to by the message, or should I click do not convert and then convert them to cmyk in the mode menu?

is there any real difference, or is there a ‘best’ way?

many thanks

Don’t covert the images.

Don’t make them CMYK until you know what CMYK profile needed for the printer you are going to use.

Get the latest version of photoshop the color management is much better now.

Peter,

I will also recommend that you update your Photoshop. It will make your life easier.

Does this hold true for RGB images too ?
I use ColorMatch RGB, should I convert to working space or leave the supplied RGB (adobe RGB) tag.
