Hi all! I’m using Photoshop 6 on my Mac (G4). I created a two-color logo (black and a pantone color). My client wants the files also saved as a Photoshop file (he requested a tif, but it can also be a Photoshop eps file… anything that he can import into PageMaker). How do I create this logo and have it still be only the two colors? I tried making it a duotone, but that didn’t seem to work. Maybe I wasn’t doing it right? Thanks so much!

Julie

You will need to find out if PageMaker can handle a DCS2. ( I have never used PM so i don’t know.)

If it can, create your file as a Grayscale with an extra Spot Color Channel and Save As a DCS2.

The part of the logo which is to print in Black appears only in the Grayscale channel; and the Pantone-colored parts are copied into the Spot Color Channel.

You need to create a file with one spot colour channel and save as a DCS2

Ideally of course, logos are drawn in Illustrator, simplifying the process…

Yes, I did the logos all in Illustrator. But for some reason, the client wants them as tif files, as well. Thanks for your help!

But for some reason, the client wants them as tif files, as well.

Could be that he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

I’d ask him politely why he wants a Tif.

Perhaps you could suggest that a PDF would be more useful to him than a tiff?
