Clone tool

When I try to use clone tool I get an error message "Could not pattern stamp, because pattern has not been defined". Condition developed in the middle of a job after working OK. Tool now won’t work on any other job. How do I clear this problem?

Did you switch from Clone tool to Pattern tool? It’s on the same panel.
