Hey there,
I have been having issues with PSDs not opening giving me the "Internal Program Error" message.

I have to open all of these files with Imageready, and have traced the problem to using layer effects such as patterns, etc. This does NOT seem to happen using the dropshadow, but after turning off all layer effects in file, then resaving, the file will then open up in Photoshop.

Does anyone know why this would be?? Is it a CS bug? Please don’t tell me about deleting the preference file, I’ve done that many times already, and have re-installed CS as well, and can’t get this problem to go away.

Any help is welcome…thanks.

Sounds like the old "set the image cache back to 4" bug.

Set the image cache back to 4, and leave it there.

CHRIS!!

YOU ARE THE MAN! That seems to be the problem. Now I can open the files….was this bug ever addressed and fixed?

This bug was fixed in CS2. It was an odd case, and setting the cache level to 4 in CS worked around it.
