Is there some setting to apply effects to new shape layers?

I have a stroke set on one layer, now whenever I draw another shape / mask layer in the document,
I get that same stroke applied automatically.
Never seen this happen before.

I’ll bet you are just adding to the existing Vector Mask. Anything on the same layer will have the same effects. Are you holding down Shift while making new Shapes? Is there more than one Shapes layer?

I get that all the time, but I don’t why, even in a new layer. I either just delete the effects by dragging them to the trash can at the bottom of the layers palette or turn off the eye.

Any other tricks anybody? I would like to know too! My trash can is full of effects and they don’t pick it up until next week.

good one peadge.
at least they aren’t heavy, and dont smell too bad.
😉

glad to know i am not the only one (btw edjh, it isnt on the same layer but good guess)
but i would like to know whassup – seems this just started and i wonder if i did something.

i often wonder if i have silently hit some uknown key combination with my fat, impatient fingers – on that note, i would really like some sort of feature that shows what keys you are pressing somewhere on the screen…

I am frustrated with this also. Seems there should be a setting somewhere. What I end up doing is each layer that is created by the shape layers tool I just go to the styles pallet and click the circle with the slash through it (international no symbol I think). It actually a sticky setting hence the same style is created for all subsequent layers, including no style. It’s a pain but it works.

Hmm. Never seen it. I am pretty sure there’s no setting for that.

What version are you using? I have PS 7 on Windows and CS on Mac. Maybe it’s a Windows CS glitch?
