I’m working on a project with another person and what to retain the same color throughout the process… my colleague is created the files on a Mac using Photoshop CS… I’m working on a PC using Photoshop 7.

When selecting an area
– open new window
– paste
– save for web

The result is a different color than than what is in my workspace.

I tried opening the image using all three options:
– Use embedded profile
– Convert document’s colors to workspace
– Discard the embedded profile

Doesn’t seem to matter what I try the colors just aren’t matching when I save them.

Any ideas?

It is likely to be. The Save for Web window displays the file in a non-colour managed workspace so you can see how it will appear in a browser on your machine.

By setting your proof colours to Monitor RGB you will see the same ‘preview’ in your main Photoshop workspace, and by setting your RGB working space to sRGB, it will be much closer to the Save for Web view without proof colours selected.
