Change of colors when importing into PSE and PS CS

I have installed both Photoshop Elements 2 and Photoshop CS and when importing any pictures regardless of source (scanner, files , digital camera), the colors are changed. However if I DO NOT touch the imported pictures and print them as is, they come out perfect. Any ideas on what I have to do to correct this? This pertains to Macintosh G-4 computers using OS9.2 and OS 10.3 It is very hard to work on any picture that is not color correct.

Are you using color management and if so what are the settings you are using? Is your monitor properly calibrated? A little more info will make it easier to try and help you.
