What determines the different aspect of a jpeg picture at high magnification between Photoshop and the standard Windows Image Viewer ?
When looking at a detail of a 2048×3072 picture at – let’s say – 800% or 1600% in PS on my 1280×800 notebook screen I can clearly see the pixel structure of the picture; instead when looking at the same picture at equivalent screen magnification in Windows Image Viewer I cannot distinguish the individual pixels, and the picture looks more like a resampled one.
BTW Microsoft Photo Premium (which I don’t use but just happen to have preinstalled) behaves like PS and not like the Image Viewer. Just out of curiosity – maybe the answer is so simple but I just don’t know.
