Just got an email from a client in China. He’s asking me for instructions (via email no less) on how to batch resize and rotate thousands of images (God help me). He is using Ver 5.5. It has been years since I used that version. My question (before I attempt a lengthy tutorial on actions) is does anyone remember if Ver 5.5 supported actions, or did that function start in ver 6. Thanks for any replys.

Yes, version 5.5 supports actions. Just be careful not to use functions that weren’t available in 5.5.

Good Luck!

Thanks Jim. Now comes the fun part of explaining actions to a beginner via email.

Thanks again for the quick response.

why don’t you create the action, send him that then you only have to explain batching.

Hi Dave
Do you think that an action created in CS will function properly in 5.5? We are talking a simple resize and rotate.

I would think so (or I wouldn’t have suggested it<g>), as long as it’s not using anything cs specific. wonder if someone here with both could try?

Thanks Dave, I’ve created the action along with instructions on where to "stick it" <G>. Emailed to him. I’ll wait to see what happens next.

No, actions created in CS will not work in 5.5.

If I remember correctly, versions 7 actions (and later) do not work in V6 Photoshop(and earlier)

Correction: actions written in V6 and after will not work in V5.X and earlier. source: Danny Raphael’s tutorial
